Africa eSIM: frequently asked questions

Which destinations does each Africa eSIM plan cover?

It depends on the plan: Africa · 29 destinations and Africa · 47 destinations. The full list of destinations for each plan is on this page.

Can I use the same eSIM in several countries?

Yes. With a regional plan you use the same eSIM in every destination on the plan's list: data and validity are shared for the whole trip, and you don't have to change anything when you cross a border.

When should I activate my eSIM?

They start counting the first time they connect to a network in any of the zone's countries. Install the eSIM before you leave, on Wi-Fi, and keep the line turned off until you reach your destination: if it connects earlier, at home or on a layover, it starts counting there.

Do I keep my own phone number?

Yes. The eSIM adds a data line, while your usual SIM and number stay active for calls and texts.

How much data do I need?

As a guide: maps, messaging and email use about 1 GB a week; add social media and photos and you reach 2–3 GB; video calls and streaming can use 1 GB a day or more. If in doubt, choose the next size up — you can add another plan from your dashboard at any time.

What if a destination on my route isn't in any of these plans?

Search for it on the pricing page: Telcomia has single-country plans for more than 200 countries and territories, as well as global plans.
